Prague (Czech Republic), 30 June-3 July 2015

The SEB Annual Meeting took place at The Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic, from the 30th June-3rd of July and was organised by the Society for Experimental Botany. Within this meeting, the 7th FP project EU-Root organized a specific session entitled “Plants roots: new challenges in a changing world” with the aim of presenting current advances in root research. Given the common areas of research, ROOTOPOWER participated in this session with Francisco Pérez-Alfocea, Andrew Thompson and Ian Dodd as invited speakers. In addition, Carlos de Ollas Valverde, a team member from ULANC, and Mª José Asins presented a poster, respectively, within the framework of the project.

Vienna (Austria), 29 June-1 July 2015

The International Conference "Plant Abiotic Stress Tolerance III" was held in Vienna, from the 29th June to the 1st July. The main goal of this conference was to bring researchers from academy and industry to present and evaluate the most recent advances in understanding and combating plant abiotic stress and tolerance mechanisms and to define new frontiers in this field. Emna Gharbi, from the UCL team, gave an oral presentation related to her work within ROOTOPOWER.

The SOL Genomics Network organized the 11th Solanaceae Conference (SOL2014) in Porto Seguro, Bahia (Brazil), 2-6 November 2014. The meeting explored the recent technological advances in plant genomics leading to a better knowledge of natural variation and its application into plant breeding. The SEB Annual Meeting took place at Manchester University, UK, from the 1st - 4th. This meeting was organised by the Society for Experimental Botany and gathered 750 attendees from all over the world. As invited speaker, the coordinator of ROOTOPOWER gave a talk entitled "ROOTOPOWER: understanding the power of root traits to increase yield stability under abiotic edaphic stresses". Both Ascensión Martínez, a member of the CEBAS-CSIC's team, and Carlos de Ollas Valverde, part of ULANC's team, presented a poster where ROOTOPOWER was acknowledged.
